“SOME THOUGHTS” by Pastor Dave

THE SOURSE OF FRUITS AND ‘GOOD THINGS’

Every weekday morning, I have prayer with prayer partners from around Colorado.  Our newest member to our group as well as to the family of God, made a comment the other day that got me to thinking.  He had been praying for a work situation that in his words, were, “To good to be true”.  He said that he really wants to believe but that he has been disappointed so many times in the past, that he is afraid to get his hopes up; afraid that it will not last.  That has been the experience of his past.

That reminded me of myself some years back, when I too felt it was all too good to be true.  You see, for years, good news and good things would come my way-only to quickly diminish.  However, I found that since I have established (and developed and maintained) my relationship with Jesus, I too was experiencing these ‘good things’; ‘good things’ that did NOT go away.  ‘Good things’ that became part of my life.

When we keep our eyes focused on Jesus, the Bible tells us that we can be assured of His love for us and we realize we truly have nothing to worry about.  God has a wonderful plan for our lives, and part of that plan includes taking care of us.  That is why He sent His Son.  Even in the difficult times, when it seems like God doesn't care, we can put our trust in the Lord and focus on His kingdom.  God will take care of our every need.  Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:25, “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life-whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear.  Isn't life more than food, and your body more than clothing”, and in verse 31-33, He continues,  “So don't worry about these things, saying, 'What will we eat?  What will we drink?  What will we wear?'  These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need” (NLT).

So. If you are not experiencing the ‘fruits of life’ (John 15:5,8; Luke 13:6-9), or the ‘good things’, then perhaps you need to ‘replant yourself’ in the Word and promise of God.  All you have to do is ask Jesus into your heart and into your life; make Him your source of ‘good things’.
